About Emma Laybourn

I'm an established children's author, with seven books published in the UK, the USA and other countries.

As a qualified librarian and teacher, I worked for many years in public libraries and primary schools in the north of England. Since 1997 I've had seven children's books published by Transworld and Andersen Press (now part of Penguin Books.)

I also write short stories for magazines in the UK and Australia, and have had about 60 published. I'm married with two grown-up children and live near Manchester, England.

The aim of this website is to help children find enjoyment in reading, by providing a child-friendly, advert-free "library" of online stories that young readers can easily explore.

This site contains only my own stories. I have listed suggestions for where to find other free children's books online in my blog, on the Goodreads website here.

My other interest is English literature. I have produced abridged versions of classic English novels, available as free ebooks, and have compiled ebook selections of classic English poetry.
